Three Biometric Solutions That Work Across Devices

May 15, 2015     By : Ray

The market size for Biometrics is expected to reach $24.59 billion in the next six years, according to Grand View Research. To cope up with this demand, it is necessary that the biometric solutions are made available across the range of platforms that consumers use. There are already some companies who have developed solutions that are compatible with a majority of the devices present in the market. Here are 3 of them:

IdentityX

Daon, a leading biometric software products maker, offers a universal authentication platform for mobile devices called the IdentityX Platform. IdentityX allows users to mix and match security factors of the past (e.g., passwords and hard tokens) with security factors of today (e.g., voice, fingerprint, and facial recognition) as well as emerging factors of tomorrow. All these factors can be used individually or fused together to deliver the level of assurance desired.

The IdentityX Platform offers the freedom to integrate existing security systems into an overall security scheme and includes the choice to add new technologies as they become available. You can select from a number of entirely different authentication systems and manage them as part of a holistic security approach. You can even pick and choose your preferred security factors and transition from one authentication system to another in a controlled manner. Daon’s IdentityX Mobile Framework/SDK makes it possible to integrate these biometric features across smartphones, tablets, etc.

Face++

Face++ is a new vision platform built by Megvii Inc. aimed at providing a compact, powerful and cross-platform vision service. Face++ uses the cutting-edge technology of computer vision and data mining to provide 3 core vision services (Detection, Recognition, and Analysis). With the service and huge database from Face++, developers can apply the face technology into their own websites, mobile apps and smart TVs, to enable an incredible user experience.

Face++ services come in basic and enterprise versions. The basic Face++ service is API-based and 100% free. The enterprise version has much better accuracy and system performance. Face++ provides face-related technologies with the online API service. Face++ also provides offline SDKs to enterprise partners with a license charge. These SDK packages cover platforms such as iOS, Android, Linux and Windows. The company’s enterprise partners include Lenovo, 360, Meitu and Camera360.

Face++ came into limelight when Alibaba CEO Jack Ma demonstrated facial recognition technology for their proposed “selfie payments”. Face++ recently raised $25 million in a Series B round and has raised $47 million so far.

VoiceVault

VoiceVault provides voice biometric solutions for mobile, on-device and telephony applications. The company’s solutions are developed and delivered through partners or direct to client organizations and these can be deployed through a range of hosting models including cloud, on-premise or via managed service providers. VoiceVault has built proprietarytechnology, which is 100% in-house developed.

VoiceVault’s solutions use the unique characteristics of a person’s voice for biometric identity verification on phones, in mobile apps and on-device for tablets and computers. VoiceVault offers the ViGo application as a standardized approach to mobile voice biometrics. ViGo comes integrated with Amazon Web Services cloud-based authentication platform. Developers can use ViGo’s library of SDKs for iOS and Android to easily integrate voice biometrics into apps. Here is a video illustration highlighting ViGo:
